Alright, you're just making it too easy for us Keanu. Remember the days of The Replacements? You can do more than be a sociopath! You can sing, dance, play football even! Even though this seems like yet another laughable venture in the career of Neo, I must admit it has peaked my interest, due to the inclusion of aliens (for some reason, I could watch any movie about aliens and be entertained/scared out of my mind). So while Keanu Reeves just makes me giggle, come December I shall be sitting in a darkened theater waiting anxiously for the lights to dim, screen to flicker on, and witnessing the earth once again finding itself in the hands of a man who simply does not give a damn.

What are you talking about!? For anyone whose seen The original 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' should know how perfect Keanu is for this part, and I'm not his biggest fan either. But with that same monotone voice and attitude he has shown he can put on quite well, he'll make a perfect Klaatu.

The only thing worrying me about this movie is what they have decided to do with the story. The whole apocolypse thing and stadiums going to dust was never in the original, and it's clear by the trailer that they are taking a different look at it. But I wouldn't want to see an exact carbon copy of the original when I go in to see this come December. It has me pretty interested and whatever new premise they are presenting looks intriguing. I just hope where they decided to take it turns out good because the concept has such potential for a great film. Sure It most likely won't become the classic the early 50s one grew on to become, but I wish it the best at the box office, especially against some big competitors like 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'.

    Klaatu barada nikto!

Brian! Oh man, I'm sorry to have come off as an ignorant jerk, I really cannot say I have any previous experience with "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (before this one comes out I'm definitely going to check out the older version) and I'm really not making any judgements on the movie at all. I'm simply implying after review of most of Keanu's characters over the past couple years that he has the acting versatility comprable to that of a rocks.

And while I can't sign off in some fantastically strange language and have no idea what that means, thanks so much for your response and keeping us here at PopSense more educated about the stuff we love to talk about!

Hey, I was actually just about to tell the young miss starzyk about the original. From 1951 being a very big sci-fi hit. You should see it before the new one because most viewers watch re-makes as if their the original (people had the same ignorance for "3:10 to Yuma"). The original is actually not that great of a film really. So be prepared for laughs in both viewing the older version and possibly the new one (keep our fingers crossed that Keanu can still manage to come across as emotionless or even better; monotone). We can only hope that the editors and boom mic operators captured his "quietness" yet again, as if thats a tough job. Apparently Miss Starzyk and I both appreciate Keanu's "superb" closed lipped and whisper-like acting!
