The YouTube Roulette

Guess who’s back? Back again?
Corbin’s back! Tell a friend.
Guess who’s back... guess who’s back... guess who’s back... guess who’s back... guess who’s back... guess who’s back... guess who’s back duh nuh nuh
Thank you, Eminem. You have reminded me I am not the only one with a superhero complex.
Anyway, I’m happy to be back here at PopSense. Oklahoma (the musical, not the state) was all kinds of fun, yes, but for a month now, I’ve had all these potential ideas for articles floating around in my head while having no time to write them. This brought about so much tension in my anxious body that I thought I was going to blow up like an atomic bomb in Kirby Plaza.
Thankfully, I endured and did not have to resort to such violent means. I found a way to parcel these ideas out in the form of a game, a game I am giving you the opportunity to play.
Ever heard of Russian Roulette? You know, that game where you take a revolver, stick a bullet in one of the six holes of the chamber, spin it, and then put the gun to your head and pull the trigger? You only have a one-in-six chance of losing, but if you do, well, you lose a bit more than just a game.
My game is kinda like that, except it’s much less life threatening. It’s called YouTube Roulette! Here’s how it works:
Below are six links that will take you to different videos on YouTube. You click a link and see what happens. Like McDonald’s Monopoly, there are multiple ways to win, but only one grand prize, which happens to be a sneak peek of the new season Premiere of LOST! Your other four opportunities to win are videos that relate to my upcoming articles for this winter.
And of course, you can lose, but it doesn’t involve a bullet in the brain. If you lose, you get Rick-Rolled... only it’s not just any kind of Rick-Roll.
So click a link, any link, but CLICK WISELY!
“Never gonna give you up”
“Never gonna let you down”
“Never gonna run around and hurt you”
“Never gonna make you cry”
“Never gonna say goodbye”
“Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you”
You may play multiple times. And if you’re interested in playing more games, try to take a guess at what the heck these videos could have to do with future articles.
And if you won the grand prize, keep reading! This video has given me new LOST theories to discuss!
The big question is: Who is the “client” of the law firm? Could it be Charles Widmore? Sun? Jeremy Bentham?
My winning notion: fallen hero Jack Shepherd guided by the ever-manipulative Ben Linus in an attempt to convince her to return to the Island with them. By this point, Jack has been in and out of a committed relationship with Kate and probably knows what makes her tick (Ben probably knows this too simply because he’s Ben Linus after all). Tipping someone off about Kate’s post-Island secret brings her dream of a simple, peaceful life as a single, well-endowed mother to a screeching halt, forcing her to return to her old life of running from the law. Not a pleasant outlook for Kate, and I’m sure Jack and Ben know this. If she wants a way out, it appears she only has one option: Return to the Island.
Get excited, folks! January 21st will be here before we know it!
