Polaroid Camera Comes Back in 2010?

With the exception of some hair mousse, and a love affair that involves Julia Roberts, the folks working on the "impossible project" are identical to Danny Ocean and his team of thieves. The "Impossible Project" is the name of a mission to revive the Polaroid in the same way fathers try to bring back overalls, only hopefully this will be more successful. A group of men known as the "impossible team" has bought an old Polaroid factory located in the Netherlands. They plan to reinvent instant film production in a way that makes manufacturing more feasible - the better to take vintage photos with, my dear.

Polaroid stopped making its instant film in June 2008, and has since then changed to a consumer electronics and digital imaging company (ergo: ixnay on the olaroidpay). Since then, they've closed down the factories in Mexico and the Netherlands.

The Impossible Project has since then assembled a superhuman team of the most experienced integral film (that's what "instant film" is called when its mother yells at it to come downstairs) experts in the world. In other words, these are the Justice League for art kids. And housed them in a badass facility previously owned by Polaroid.

The factory where all the reinventing will occur is 7420 square feet and includes 10 giant integral film assembly machines. The facility is capable of producing up to 100 million new instant films per year and were bought at the bargaining price of 100 million euros.

Besides the fact that these guys will be über rich, if this project works, they will be saving a generation of grandfathers who can't use their tiny digital camera as well as artists who can't stand being deprived of the touch-the-piano-drive-the-car-pet-your-dog feeling that came with instant film. If this works, the people at Polaroid will be regretting their decisions more than the guy who invented Monopoly and sold it to the Parker Brothers. According to the website, the Impossible Team is free to develop new products with new fresh ideas - the project is essentially fixing the technical problems that were involved before and reinventing, Kanye style (high top + mullet + neon = cool?).

The team is currently taking emails and suggestions and promises new film for all your old Polaroid cameras by 2010. That's right - instant gratification is back, and it's bringing sexy with it.

FUck yes. I'm tired of buying them off eBay for around $17-$20 US per 10 photos. Expensive, and shipping takes so long and is so pricey to ship to Canada!

"ALL your old Polaroid cameras?" Seriously? Including my 1957-62 Polaroid 800? This would be so awesome I can't even stand it.
